Parent Letter 2-13-12
February 13, 2012
Dear Parents:
The weekend was filled with fun, energy and a tremendous school spirit. The Mardi Gras was total success. Everyone appeared to have a great time with good food, wonderful auction items, delightful music and fun dancing. The number of parishioners and community people present was unbelievable.
That being said I want to thank everyone who donated time, gifts, talents and energy and all who attended the Mardi Gras. Without all of you who worked so hard in planning, organizing, setting up, preparing and taking down - the event would have never happened. Thank you to the Mardi Gras committee – especially George Lah and the “heads” of each committee for all you did to make this event successful. I am very grateful and proud of our school community and the willingness to “step up” when faced with a need or project. Nothing official, but I heard we grossed $ 21,000. Wow!!!
Now we move forward with new projects. Pasties, March 8-10. The Bishop’s Dinner March 17th. I need everyone to attend the dinner, if possible. Please come or sell a couple of tickets. Needless to say I don’t want the Bishop to be disappointed.
Lent begins February 22nd. We will be on Spring Break. Please bring your child to the Ash Wednesday Service. On Friday we will send a booklet of Lenten family activities. Please use this as a guide and hopefully a help to live Lent to the fullest and prepare for Easter. Attached is letter from Beth Mork about a project we plan to do during Lent. It is going to be very exciting and I believe will educate the children as to the real concept of sacrifice.
Box Tops need to be sent by March 1st. If you have any at home, please send them to school by Friday, February 17th. Thank you!!
NOTE: No hot lunch tickets sold February 17th. They will be sold Monday, February 27th.

Several people have asked us to research the possibility of adding 7th and 8th grade. To begin the feasibility study we will be sending a survey to all school families and parish families who have children in grades 1-6. You will receive this in the mail toward the end of February. Please complete the survey and return it in the stamped envelope. This will be the beginning of the process and the results will help us plan for the future.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for all your support and for all you do for Queen of Peace School.
Sincerely,
Sister Therese
